Gujarat : An Overview
The state of Gujarat is situated on the west coast of India, bounded by the Arabian Sea in the West, Rajasthan in the North and North-East, and Madhya Pradesh in the East and Maharashtra
in the South and South East. The state also shares an international
border with Pakistan at the north western fringe. It has the longest
coastline of about 1600 km which is also the longest among all states in
the country.
Gujarat is one of the most prosperous states of the
country owing to its booming economy and industry. The state provides
about 19.8% of the country's total industrial output and is the most
industrialized state of the country. Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat is a beautiful planned city.
Gujarat is known for its rich culture and tradition. It is famous for its exquisite handicrafts and textiles. Gujarat
is the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi and is connected intimately with
many events pertaining to India's independence. The land is replete with
beautiful temples, historical monuments, architectural and cultural heritages, pristine beaches and many more other attractions.
