This wildlife park spread over the area of 4954 sq km is recognized as largest Wildlife sanctuary of India. This place is well known for protecting endangered species of Indian Wild Ass.

It is saline desert which usually gets flooded in rainy season. The entire region remains under water for months. Animals living in this wildlife sanctuary take shelter at small elevated bets located in sanctuary. These bets are well covered with shrubs and grass which is enough to feed these animals. Nearly 2100 animals reside in Wild Ass Wildlife Sanctuary. The most adverse threat that this sanctuary faces is illegal salt panning.

However, Ahmadabad Airport is the most convenient one as it is connected to all parts of country as well as many foreign cities.

By Train:
Its nearest rail head is located in Viramgam which offers good connectivity to Mumbai and Delhi. Even other cities of Gujarat are within reach from this railway station. Bhavnagar Express, Saurastra Mail, Sau Janata Express, and Kutch Express are the important trains taking halt at this station.

By Road:
This sanctuary is approximately 45 km from Viramgam and 130 km from Ahmadabad. It is advisable to reach this sanctuary with private vehicle which has good ground clearance. From Ahmadabad, travelers can reach via National Highway 8A through Sarkhej, Bajana, Viramgam, and Dasada. However, government operates state transport buses for the convenience of people coming to this sanctuary.
